Step 4 – Preparing DC
- Create a new Virtual Machine, Select Windows 2003 Server x32 ISO. You will be asked for Key and Administrator Name, then enter thenaccordingly.
- Name Virtual Machine such as DC. Then Next.
- Keep the default CPU and Memory Setting, 1 vCPU and 384MB Memory is fine for DC. then Next.
- Select “User network address translation (NAT)” option for Network.
- Keep all other settings as default, then Power On this VM. It will automatically install OS.
Step 5 – Preparing vCenter Server
- Create a new Virtual Machine, Select Windows 2003 Server x64 ISO. You will be asked for Key and Administrator Name, then enter them accordingly.
- Name Virtual Machine such as vCenter. Then Next.
- Keep the default CPU and Memory Setting, 1 vCPU and 1536MB Memory is fine for DC. then Next.
- Select “User network address translation (NAT)” option for Network.
- Keep all other settings as default, then Power On this VM. It will automatically install OS.
Step 6 – Configuring DC
- Assign a static IP Address and Hostname to DC, refer to the Diagram in Part 1 for IP Address.
IP Address : 192.168.xxx.252
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.xxx.254 (Refer to Part 1)
DNS : 127.0.0.1
- Decide Domain Name, such as xyz.lan
- Run DCPROMO
- Reboot
Step 7 – Configuring vCenter
- Assign a static IP Address and Hostname to vCenter Server OS, refer to the Diagram in Part 1 for IP Address.
IP Address : 192.168.xxx.200
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.xxx.254 (Refer to Part 1)
DNS : 192.168.xxx.252
- Join to AD that you created at Step 5, and Reboot.
- Install SP2 if it is not installed.
- Install .NET 3.5 SP1 if it is not installed.
- Install Windows Installer 4.5 if it is not installed.
