Step 14 – Installing vCenter Server
- Attach vCenter Installation ISO to vCenter VM.
- Start vCenter Server Installation
- Select Default Language Option and Proceed the Installation.
- Enter Organization name such as XYZ then Next.
- Select Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Option. This is only Lab environment, so SQL Express will work fine, but in your production environment, you should choose remote Database Server option.
- Select default Service Account.
- You may receive FQDN warning but ignore this. This is due to reverse lookup. If you have Reverse Lookup Zone configured, then you will not get this message.
- Select Default Installation Location.
- Select Standalone vCenter Server instance.
- Keep default port numbers.
- Keep Small Inventory Size
- Don’t select Ephemeral Port Setting, you will not have 2000 virtual machines in this lab environment.
- Then proceed to complete the installation.
- Your vCenter Server is ready now. By now you should have everything you need to kick start your vSphere Lab Exercises. In Part – 7 of this instruction, we will just verify that all components are working fine.
